Day 1
Arrival in Tana

Your trip to Madagascar begins in Antananarivo. You will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel.

Day 2
Tana – Ampefy

Driving distance: 145 km asphalt – 3h drive

Depart for Ampefy, where you can relax. Leaving the capital, you pass through a variety of landscapes, from urban to rural, with picturesque villages lining the road. The road winds through green hills, rice terraces and lush forests, offering breathtaking views of the Malagasy countryside. As you approach Ampefy, the road becomes more winding, with ascents and descents, until you reach this charming village nestled in a natural setting between lakes and mountains. The journey, though sometimes a little bumpy, is a true voyage through the diversity of Madagascar’s landscapes.

Ampefy

A horseback ride to the Lily waterfall in Ampefy is an unforgettable experience in the heart of Malagasy nature. Starting from the village of Ampefy, you’ll ride through lush green landscapes, past terraced rice fields and hills covered in lush vegetation. The horse moves quietly along dusty trails, giving you panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Halfway along, you’ll pass small rivers, where the murmur of water creates a soothing atmosphere. The vegetation becomes denser as you approach the waterfall, and the air becomes cooler due to the refreshing mist generated by the waterfall. Arriving at the Lily waterfall, you’ll be dazzled by the majesty of the water cascading into a natural basin, surrounded by rocks and tropical vegetation. Ampefy

A bike ride to the Analavory geysers in Ampefy is a fascinating adventure that plunges you into the heart of stunning natural landscapes. Departing from the village of Ampefy, from the very first pedal strokes you’ll cross lush green fields and picturesque villages, following sometimes rocky but accessible paths. The road winds through dense forests and hills, with splendid views of the surrounding mountains. As you approach the geysers, the vegetation becomes sparser and the volcanic soil takes over. The air becomes fresher and a slight puff of steam begins to make itself felt, a sign that you are very close to your destination. Once there, the Analavory geysers will amaze you with their hot springs rising from the earth, creating columns of steam that rise majestically into the air. This hike not only immerses you in a unique and wild environment, but also takes you on a journey through Madagascar’s astonishing geothermal phenomena.

Day 6
Tana – Andasibe

Distance covered: 145km asphalt / 3h30 drive

After breakfast, you leave the Highlands and head east along a winding road to Andasibe. En route, stop at Marozevo to visit the Pereyras reserve and meet its endemic species of chameleon. Continuation to Périnet. Arrive late afternoon and settle into the hotel’s attractive bungalows.

Day 7
Andasibe

Guided tour of Analamazaotra National Park to observe the planet’s largest living lemur, the Indri-Indri, in its natural habitat, as well as frogs and other friendly reptiles that populate the park. In the afternoon, visit the Vakona private reserve for a closer look at various species of flora and fauna.

Day 8
Andasibe – Tana

After breakfast, departure for the capital. Time to close this interlude with unforgettable memories. Transfer to the airport for your return flight.

Pack light but include good walking shoes, a light rain jacket, and mosquito repellent. Bring a refillable water bottle for day trips, and a small backpack for hikes and picnics. Don’t forget binoculars for wildlife spotting, and a camera to capture waterfalls and rare species. Respect local customs—learning a few Malagasy greetings can go a long way.
